Responsible investment is a key priority for Unicorn Asset Management. We are of the view that companies should treat all stakeholders responsibly and, in doing so, create value for all stakeholders over the long term.
Unicorn is proud to be a signatory to the UN Principles of Responsible Investment and its six principles.
Unicorn employs a company-wide Responsible Investment Policy across all our investment products, endorsed by the board of directors, overseen by Unicorn Ethical Committee and implemented by our Ethical Officer.
Responsible investment is integrated into Unicorn’s investment process using a four-stage process:
- Exclude: remove companies / sectors from the investible universe
- Assess: identify ESG controversies and assess future strategy
- Engage: through regular company meetings and active voting
- Supplement: supplemental criteria is applied for specific products and mandates
We will not investment in any company which fails to meet our responsible investment criteria above, regardless of the strength of the wider business case.
In keeping with us conducting all our investment research in-house, Unicorn does not rely on external ESG rating agencies for assessing companies, using them only as a final check and balance to our internal responsible investment process.
